School of History at the University of East Anglia
United Kingdom
Role in the project: Assistant Contractor
The School of History at the University of East Anglia comprises the third largest 5* history department in UK with twenty-three full time members of faculty. The School offers a wide range of courses in political, social, economic, intellectual, military and aesthetic history, embracing many countries. We have particularly strong expertise in British and European history, from the medieval period to the late modern. The School has well established and close links with the region through its
Centre of East Anglian
Studies.
The University Library stocks some 80,000 history books and over 250 historical journals. A considerable part of this literature is available in electronic form. In addition there are numerous specialist collections which enhance studies here, such as the British Parliamentary Papers, the Library of American Civilization, the Holloway Collection of Contemporary Cultural Records, the East Anglian Film Archive, and one of the most extensive holdings on German history of any UK university.
The School of History is also fortunate in its close access to the Norwich Record Office archives, which are a treasure trove for the
Virtual Norfolk
project, which is a major new programme to make primary source documents and multimedia content available for teaching, learning and research via the internet.
